There's an interview with William McDonough in Newsweek here. He discusses the current practice of "downcycling" rather than recycling, and his personal Industrial Revoluation, generally.

I ♥ William McDonough.

For some reason, Blogger is eating any text with a URL associated with it. So here's the bare link to a great, eloquent address about CSAs, sustainable agriculture, and William McDonough's design principles:

Cool thing of the day: The Works.

Non-profit charity that caters events in NYC and contributes proceeds to housing, job training, medical treatment, etc. for people living with HIV/AIDS. Part of Housing Works. Plus, splash page has pretty women in bras and negligees eating pasta. Yay, marketing!

Hi! This is the inaugural post in Permadesign, a blog that we'll use to keep track of websites and blogs and other stuff that attracts our attention on the subject of decorative arts, design, and sustainability. I've added one link already, to Pacific Rim Woodworking, which is a sustainable furniture design firm in Eugene, OR. I'll probably also be tracking organic gardening sites here, because I'm a little obsessed that way.

Have at you!
